How Vegas Got Its Cool

Las Vegas has inspired more movies than you can shake two dice at.  Something about the glamour and overall Las Vegas cool attitude inspires filmmakers and enthralls audiences.  From James Bond to Elvis to the Ratpack, idols of Vegas cool have always popped up in casinos and hotels on and off the screen.

Since Vegas has a long-tradition of coolness, we thought we'd highlight some of the coolest things to do in the Sin City.  Here are our picks:

5 Cool Things To Do In Vegas

1)  Gamble in Style

Nothing says Vegas cool like the ability to calmly throw down (or rake in) some bucks at a blackjack or roulette table.  And like everything else in Vegas, there is always a way to do this in highest style. 

The more secluded rooms for high-rollers at many of the casinos offer a sophisticated atmosphere away from the jingle-jangle of slot machines. 

Check out the Mirage’s high-limit lounge (shown at right), if you can.  The Mirage’s main casino table games also have their fill of excitement.  Don’t be shy about hanging around to get a taste of the action before you take the plunge.

2)  Drive a Race Car

A great way to live the Vegas cool highlife is to take a hot ride.  And it doesn’t get any hotter than Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s Richard Petty Driving Experience. 

This attraction is one of the few places amateurs can race real stock cars.   Packages range in price from $120 for a ride-along experience, to over $2,500 for a true racing experience. 

3)  Go to a cool Vegas pool

What better way to cool down than to relax poolside next to some of the resident beauties baring it all. 

Check out the Bare Pool Lounge at the Mirage (shown at right) for a secluded, posh experience with great services and DJ-spun tunes.

4)  Chill out at a cool Vegas lounge

If the chaos of the nightclubs is cramping your cool Las Vegas style, check out some of the hottest ultra-lounges in the world. 

The sophisticated V bar at the Venetian is a great place to sip martinis while watching some of the most beautiful and polished people in Vegas do their thing.  If you’re looking to mingle, this venue is not for the shy or awkward.  James Bond would feel right at home. 

Also check out Tabú at MGM Grand (shown at right), one of the newer lounges and a great place to meet with friends.  This Vegas lounge also has some of the most attractive staff around.

5)  Check out the cool designer stores
