Many Las Vegas visitors are not aware that, just behind a veneer of elaborate landscaping and grassy berms, lies a world of high-end Vegas pool and beach clubs.

Moore Beach Club at Mandalay Bay at Night There, for a price, locals and out-of-towners alike can rent lavish daybeds and cabanas, get spritzed with Evian water, and cavort on sandy beaches.

One of these glitzy pool areas, including staff, cabanas and daybeds can be rented in total for private parties (wedding receptions, etc.) at a rate of $2,000 per hour – and that’s probably on the low end.

All of the pool clubs have a cover charge, typically $50 for men and $10 for women (to keep the ratio of men to women close to even).  I’ve gotten quotes from $260 to $700 per day to rent a daybed big enough for four, including the amenities that go with it.

Lounge at Wet Republic VIP Pool at MGM GrandThe elaborate private enclaves have a number of things in common:  they are for “adults only” (to encourage European-style swimming and sunning), they rent virtual suites consisting of wide daybeds with flat screen TV’s and other amenities, and they are surrounded with watchful staff who look after the slightest needs of their patrons (chilled towels are standard).

They also feature either live music or well-known DJ’s for listening or dancing, especially on Saturday nights.

Let’s take a look at some of these luxury hideaways.

Moorea Beach Club at Mandalay Bay and THEHotel

Moorea Beachclub at Mandalay Bay

This upscale, private beach club really does have its own sandy beach – but that’s just the beginning.  We should mention that the beach covers 11 acres.

If you prefer the pool scene, Moorea offers your choice of three swimming pools and a wave pool, a “lazy river,” and a jogging track.

If the 100 square foot gazebo is not quite to your taste, try the “Opium Daybeds,” with personal lockbox and fresh fruit included.

Moorea Beach Club at Mandalay Bay - Beachfront CasinoNext step up:  the Moorea Pavilions, 250 square feet of space, featuring your own private pool, lounge bed, telephone and waterfall.

Also available for your enjoyment is the Beachfront Casino (shown at left), two floors of gaming with a private 3rd level pool and five private villas soleil that offer a great entertaining venues for up to sixteen guests.

Tao Beach Club at The Venetian

Atop the exotic TAO Asian Bistro is a cool, sophisticated beach club that lets loose on Saturday nights with a light show that will dazzle the most jaded Las Vegas visitor.

Featured are floating Chinese lanterns, four 14-foot columns of fire, and a glow that is visible in the night sky for miles. Sunday Sunset sessions feature well-known DJ’s for evening of relaxation and dancing.

It’s said that Tao Beach Club is prime celebrity-watching territory – and what better place to do your watching than from one of seven lavish cabanas with well-stocked mini-fridges, a masseuse at your service, and Canyon Ranch spa treatments given on the spot.

During your massage, you can enjoy your 42” flat screen TV or X-Box console.  Cuisine from Wolfgang Puck is always available as well.  This 18,000 square foot oasis has a 30-foot bar – the lounge and nightclub are extensions of the already wildly popular Tao Nightclub.  Open to the public for varying fees,VIP memberships are now available, too.

Wet Republic at MGM Grand

Wet Republic at MGM GrandThe South Beach ambiance at Wet Republic is enhanced by two saltwater swimming pools, an Ultra Pool and eight individual pool and spas.

Of course, personal spritzers are on hand with chilled towels and massages for those who like to live lavishly at poolside.  As for the plasma TV’s and the other amenities mentioned above, they’re all available as well at Wet Republic.

Bare at The Mirage

Bare VIP Pool Club Deck at the Mirage Las VegasBare prides itself on offering the exclusive adult alternative to ordinary poolside recreation (although we haven’t yet seen anything we’d describe as “ordinary” about these lavish clubs).

Operated by the well-known Light Group, Bare goes all out to provide the ultimate in VIP service, offering chilled cucumber slices for tired eyes, Evian for hot bodies and the height of luxury in its elegant daybeds and cabanas.

A menu of tempting gourmet specialties is available poolside, and Bare’s unique pitcher service insures a plentiful supply of sangria or margaritas for you and your guests. Evening at Bare brings music and dancing, while the attentive staff makes sure that your every need is met.

Venus Pool Club at Caesar’s Palace

Venus Pool Club at Caesar's Palace Las VegasAt Caesar’s Palace Garden of the Gods, it’s clear why, as one paper put it, “every local knows that the best nightlife in Vegas is daytime poolside.”

With VIP cabanas enhanced with plasma TV’s and couches, and a luxurious air-conditioned bar, poolside at the Venus Pool Club is definitely one of the hot spots in Vegas.  Hungry?  Try the lobster sandwiches or Ahi tuna.  DJ’s are on hand to encourage dancing and socializing at sunset.

The pools at Caesar's set the standard for architectural elegance, and the staff is well-versed in providing whatever the guests' desire.  Swim beneath Roman columns the next time you want to try a truly out-of-this-world standard of opulence.

Rehab at The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino

Rehab Pool Party at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Las VegasRehab at The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is where the Vegas pool party was invented, according to local legend.  And it’s easy to believe, with all the beautiful bodies and visiting celebrities who find the Hard Rock a “must-stay” hotel.

Along with all the standard amenities, cabanas, daybeds, and even swim-up gaming, the Beach Club at the Hard Rock features breathtaking landscaping.

Rocks, palms, waterfalls and almost a mile of cerulean blue.water front the beach --  it's enough to turn escapism into high art!  And Sunday night at Rehab guarantees you'll be in great shape for the coming week -- it's a pool party nobody wants to miss.

I think that there really can

I think that there really can be a very good rest, a pity that such a holiday will be very expensive.

Looking at all these resorts

Looking at all these resorts makes me want to slip into a bikini, put on some tanning lotion and sip daiquiris all day long. It certainly brings a refreshing spin on the words "pool-side".

Thanks for your comment.

Yes - me too!

Its raining here in LA today, and the thought of chilling out at a cool Vegas pool in the summer is almost too much to bear.  Only a few more months 'till the pools open :)

See you there starting in May.  :)
