New Years Eve in Vegas - the Ultimate Guide
Every New Year’s Eve, the Las Vegas Strip shuts down and hundreds of thousands of party goers swarm the streets to partake in some of the most outrageous, luxurious and star studded events in the world. It’s a chance to find out for yourself why Vegas is called Sin City. And we promise you won’t be disappointed.

New Year's Eve - Las Vegas Style
Who needs New York? In Vegas, there is no freezing weather, no ban on drinking in the streets, and no fighting to see the big shiny ball drop. Instead the Strip turns into a pedestrian-only zone where streams of partiers wait to see half a million dollars worth of fireworks explode as the clock strikes midnight. It is the bash of the year and one of the best New Year's Eve parties on the planet. But if you’d rather be inside, dancing the night away, there is plenty to do indoors too.
What's Happening in Vegas for New Year's Eve
Caesar’s Palace: Party at PURE
Caesar’s celebrates the New Year with a wild party at Pure hosted by Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz. The bar has one of the best views of the midnight fireworks. You can also check out the purr-fect Pussycat Dolls Lounge, which is right inside Pure. Soak in sensual dances and, if you’re lucky, a surprise Doll or two (in 2007 on New Year’s Eve, it is where Paris Hilton did her famous “Martini Glass” dance).
The Palms: 3 Ways to Celebrate New Year's
NYE 2008 is bound to get crazy at the Palms. The hotel’s Ghostbar, which is located on the 55th floor, has some of the most amazing views of the wild New Year’s Strip and some of the tastiest martinis in town. Don’t leave until you’ve tried the bar’s signature drink – The Ghostini.
Rain, one of the biggest clubs and best places to dance in Vegas, will be hosted and DJ’d by Paul Oakenfold, one of the world’s most renowned spinmasters. Paul will be assisted by Cirque-style performers who will dazzle guests by climbing walls and hanging from the ceilings.
Last but certainly not least, The Pearl will host Kid Rock for a killer concert. Afterward follow Kid to the Playboy Club where he will take on host and DJ duties.
Kid Rock New Year's Eve Tickets
LuXor
The LuXor has one of the hottest tickets in Vegas – the Kardashian klan. LAX nightclub will be hosted by none other than the undeniably hot Kardashian sisters Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe. For those that would rather see a show, Carrot Top performs at 7pm followed by Criss Angel’s “BeLIEve.”
Mandalay Bay
Ring in the New Year with hot hip-hop artist Akon at the House of Blues. His 11pm show is one of the most sought after New Years Eve tickets.
MGM Grand
Legendary magician David Copperfield will dazzle crowds with his amazing performance one night only at the MGM’s Hollywood Theatre.
The Palazzo
LAVO, the luxe Mediterranean themed lounge, will have hostess help from a real “Dutchess,” Fergie, who will help the crowd ring in the New Year in glamorous, hip hop style. After midnight, all LAVO goers will gain entrance into Tao, where the sizzling Carmen Electra will be hosting with the help of Tao’s infamous “Bathing Beauties.”
The Venetian
Before she takes on hostess duties at the Palazzo’s LAVO, Fergie will perform her smash hits like “Glamorous,” “Klumsy,” and “London Bridge,” at the Venetian. Her show will be followed up by a crazy concert with Kool & the Gang’s Skip Martin and input by hot hostess Carmen Electra.
Treasure Island
The Christian Audigier Night Club will be hosted by America’s not-so-sweethearts, Heidi and Spencer. Love them or hate them, it will be entertaining to watch these two host one of the sexiest night spots in Vegas.
The Wynn
So you might not have the funds to snag a $200 - $5000 ticket at some of the previously mentioned clubs. No worries. There are still plenty of crazy clubs that still offer all of the New Year’s in Vegas amenities you’re looking for – wild parties, a lavish lifestyle, celebrity guest hosts, and views of the fireworks - but at a lesser cost. Try Blush Night Club at the Wynn, which starts at $75 per ticket.
New Year's Eve 2008 in Vegas - Tips
• Dress to impress. Nearly every club has a dress code that includes collared shirts for men and trendy cocktail dresses for women. For more information, check out our Vegas fashion articles for tips for both men and women.
• Wear comfortable shoes (that also look great). If you aren’t VIP guest, there is a 99% chance you will be standing the entire night.
• Rest up. Most Vegas clubs will be open from about 10pm – 5am so make sure you have enough steam to make it for the long haul.
• Buy your tickets ahead of time. And don’t be shell-shocked by prices. Tickets for any worthy NYE event in Vegas will range from $75 all the way up to $5000 for prime service.
• Bring ID. Just because it’s overcrowded doesn’t mean they won’t check.
